And the winners are . . .

After 2 grueling weeks of waiting for the contest to end I'm sure you're all ready to find out if you won the I LOVE UMPC contest. Remember the top 5 essays win a Samsung Q1 with a Slingbox and 10 honorable mentions will receive an Origami Project t-shirt. Emily will be e-mailing the 15 winners to get mailing information so keep an eye on that junk mail folder :)

We had a great response to the contest with over 300 essays submitted! Essays ran the gamut from fun, to practical, to emotional to poetic. It was a lot of fun for the team to read through the ideas that the community has on how a UMPC will improve your lives.

So, without further ado, drum roll please.

The winners of the Samsung Q1 and Slingbox are:

Bridget S.

Marc B.

Nathan F.

Gary K.

Mark P.

We've posted the top 5 essays here for your reading pleasure.

The honorable mentions and winners of an Origami Project T-Shirt are:

Jim and Marcie

Patrick S.

Dawn O.

Debbie E.

Jenny L.

Amy G.

Well, I guess that does it for this contest. Thanks to everyone that entered and don't worry we'll have different contests running throughout the summer to help keep you excited and rewarded for spending time on our site. Stay mobile!

Rats!
You win this time microsoft, but next time you might not be so lucky...

and to everyone who lost like me, to make you feel even worse the odds of getting a Q1 were about 1/70 (on a 350 entry basis)

About Dustin

I've been at Microsoft for 9 years and I interned here for 3 years in college, so basically I've been around for a while. My technical background is in application development, web development, database design and to a lesser extent networking. I've been managing teams at Microsoft for over 8 years now in various capacities. I love software, technology, marketing and business so I tend to dabble in a lot of areas. In my spare time I hang out with my awesome wife and two young boys. When I'm not golfing that is :)
