Re: Q1 Ultra availablilty thread. Status : Available!

I just got off costco.com and have mine on order (express shipping, of course) and came back here to post a thank you to everyone for the updates.  When it comes I will let you all know how long it takes from order to delivery.

Re: Buying Experience with Buy.com (not good) and ProVantage (good)

I don't understand all this Buy.com bashing.  I've bought 5 or 6 high dollar items from them and had an excellent experience every time.  My Q1U was shipped quickly and they had sent me an email telling me it was on the way.

I think it's a little unreasonable to expect a mega-company like that to be able to stop processing an order on your whim.  That may not be capable in a large system like theirs where it is possible with some small company.  But give them a chance to make it right.

I have had nothing but perfect transactions with Buy.com over the past several years.  And no, I don't have any connection to them, but I do buy tons of electronics and other stuff and Buy.com is one of my favorite places to shop.

Because a significant number of people have had horrible experiences with them, including myself. I have stopped ordering from them even if they do have low prices, because of many bad orders and customer service experiences over 6 years. Check the BBB, they have a constant flow of complaints against them, more then any other retailer I've used. They don't accurately track stock nor do they queue and fill backorders in a logical fashion, so if your order is not shipped right away, it may sit around indefinitely. The last product I ordered from them (just a pair of headphones) was in stock when I ordered them. The next day they were out of stock. The next week they were in stock again for several days but my order still did not ship. Then they went out of stock again. All this time I tried contacting them by e-mail and phone, but received nothing but dictated answers. I finally cancelled my order, and have not looked back since. And that was just the last straw - another incident lasted over a month.

If you aren't absolutely positive that your order will ship immediately, I suggest steering clear of buy.com. And just because you have been lucky, don't state that the experiences of others are invalid... I've been working in IT for 10 years now, and addicted to gadgets even longer - I know how to get the most out of customer service. :)

I didn't state that anyone's experience was invalid.  I stated that I didn't understand the bashing because I have always had flawless transactions with them.  Your experience with them is no more valid than mine.  If folks want to chime in with their bad experiences, I can certainly chime in with my good experiences.

Not explicitely, but you were questioning other people's testimony- "I don't understand all this Buy.com bashing." - I realize it wasn't meant badly, but that's one of those common forum phrases that heads down the wrong path quickly.

You can, but you will always find people with good experiences with a company (unless they are insanely evil). I just recommend people look beyond forums and consult resources like the BBB to get a more realistic metric on a company's reliability, rather than the experiences of just a few people (good or bad).

I am certainly bummed that I didn't look here last week - I took the week off and could have gotten the Q1U shipped from costco :(

Re: Buying Experience with Buy.com (not good) and ProVantage (good)

I think the biggest problem with Buy.com is that they will not give an estimated shipping time for my order.  The price is good, but not that good!  This is my first experience with Buy.com and I think my last.  Anyone have a suggestion of where to get the Q1U the fastest?

Re: Buying Experience with Buy.com (not good) and ProVantage (good)

Well, I cancelled my order for the 600MHz Q1U from Buy.com and ordered the 800MHz unit. I REALLY didn't want to spend the extra $400, but I guess it's better than having to suffer even more with a 600MHz processor in Vista.

My status currently says Sent to Warehouse, so let's see how long it takes.

I thought the 600mhz model came with XP Tablet edition?

    CDW

Well the $1199 Q1U on the CWD showed (and still shows) 1-3 day to ship on product page.

I palced order yesterday. My account now says "back ordered - no ETA".

Just got email back from CDW cusotmer service:

    "ETA is 6/13/2007"

    Re: ProVantage

The Q1U-V that I ordered from ProVantage when they showed availability yesterday, showed up around noon today, with FedEx afternoon delivery paid for.  (I am at the office now, so I am not able to check it out.)  ProVantage shows no availability at present, but it may make sense to check back tomorrow, as the site indicates that they expect a shipment today.  I received a verification cancel from Buy.com, so the order probably was just sent to the warehose to sit until a unit comes in.  I much prefer a site like Amazon that gives you more real time information on availability on a continuing basis (but doesn't seem to stock the Samsung unit), or ProVantage which gives you the information when you order.   However, Buy.com's price was about $20 cheaper, and they do permit returns with a 15% restocking fee, which Provantage does not.  First time I have ordered from Provantage.  Hope the unit works.

    costco news

For those waiting on costco, I am another example of order status saying "in process" and no email notification of shipping but my q1 ultra box is sitting in front me.  Ordered express on May 31 (Thursday) and rec'd today June 5 (Tuesday).

Not bad time, just a bad tracking system for shipping notification.

    Re: costco news

same experience here except mine has still not arrived--I ordered last Tuesday with the 2 day express shipping. CS refuses to check with Ingram Micro(the supplier for costco) until after the 5th day which is today. Not a lot of logic here since if it hasn't shipped by the 5th day then there is a pretty good chance that it won't be arriving--really honks me off when common sense can't seem to overcome the "standard rules". Curious what state that you are in. I got wind that they have 2 wharehouses and the one in TN apparently is the one that does not update the shipping status.--may or may not be true--some speculation here.
