    Re: Costco

I just got off the phone with Costco, I ordered on the 1st and they thought it was going to ship on Monday but it didn't until Tuesday so I should have it on Thursday. Ordered before noon on the 1st for a total of 4 Business Days for 2 day service.  I've seen better service for an item in stock but overall Costco has been very helpful but you have to ask.

As has been said previously (just a few posts back), "1-3 days" does not mean in stock, and CDW has been telling customers that it would be a couple weeks. (which I agree, the page should reflect)

Costco has also removed it, and my wholesale source changed their date yet again today - now to the 19th.

    devwild:
Ugh, it's nice that some of you have been able to get your hands on these units, but it's also clear that Samsung has completely dropped the ball to most of the major suppliers. Our supplier for work, who pulls stock from several major werehouses used by online sites, just had their arrival date slip for the fourth time today (from today to the 13th). I've been using this as a reference because typically they see products arrive before they show up on sites like newegg and amazon.

These rolling delays are making me wonder about the quality of the first Q1U's, in the case that the reason is production problems. Let us know how your devices hold up over the next few months - as long as Samsung's QA is good, it won't matter, but it's making me second guess being an early adopter on this one.

Could just be simple supply and demand. I would not read too much into intial roll-out. So far we have not seen any relability complaints or DOAs from the frst wave of owners here on this forum, myself included. Lets see how they hold-up. I am pretty impressed with the build quality of my unit.

    Re: Costco

Well finally, got my costco shipment late today. Ordered tues 29th and received about 6p today in San Diego. It shipped from LA and arrived overnight via ups even though it was 2 day express. Thats the good news. It took them 5 business days to ship the item. Have no idea why. OK, enough about that part.

    It is updating windows now.
    * I had an earlier Q1 with the vista, 1 gig memory, 60 gig hd and intel
    * I like it
    * definitely smaller, but does not really fell much lighter
    * this actually feels much faster even though others have noted otherwise
    * the screen is much better in terms of brightness
    * it is a big deal that the increased resolution actually allows you to use programs much more practically. the older unit often would cut off a critical "ok" or "cancel" at the bottom of the screen and require that you change the screen resolution just to finish a task
    * I have used a blackberry and now a treo as a phone and the keyboard is pretty decent if you are used to those devices
    * I have a stowaway bluetooth keyboard that I got for the older unit if I need to do a lot of text entry

I will post later after I have more experience, but these are just a couple of thoughts.

    Re: Costco

I ordered the XP version through Buy.com.  I'm going to cancel my order, as it looks like the new availability date is 06/22/2007.  At that point, maybe they'll be in stores :)  If anybody is dissatisfied and wants to recoup their money I'm up for buying the Q1 Ultra...

I second the earlier statement that the thread title should be changed, as well.  Darned things aren't available anywhere AFAICT.

That's not  the new ultra, it's a Q1P with Vista.

    All I see is:

"The real-time inventory server is temporarily down.  This item was last known to be back-ordered, however this may not be accurate.  Please contact us for availability or try your request again, later.  You can order this product, regardless of availability."

    Re: Costco

Did you actually click the link/copy and paste the link?

This is the text I JUST COPIED from the site:
"There currently are 145 units in stock, and no processed back orders in the system. You should place an order now. Please be advised that other customers may have placed orders, which have not yet been processed, and we cannot guarantee that the stock shown will be allocated to an order you place. Orders submitted after our operational hours and on weekends are processed on our next business day at 9:00AM ET, in the order received."

    Re: Costco

Here's a cut and paste of the part # you're quoting, with 145 units in stock:
SAMSUNG logo - Click to view other products from "SAMSUNG."
    BLT Item #:  BK90790
    Manufacturer:  SAMSUNG
    Mfg. Part #: NP-Q1-F000
    UPC Code:036725730045

Here's a cut and paste of the actual Q1Ultra, which is the unit we're actually wanting:
SAMSUNG logo - Click to view other products from "SAMSUNG."
    BLT Item #:  BM88449
    Manufacturer:  SAMSUNG
    Mfg. Part #: NP-Q1UA000
    UPC Code:367257202824

Different unit, and they show 55 backordered, with 220 incoming.

    Re: Costco

I ordered from Costco on Tuesday morning 6/5.  On Thursday morning the website still showed "processing order" so I called and was told it should ship by the end of the week.  It arrived on Thursday afternoon - the website still shows "processing order"!  Smile [:)] Guess you can't believe what they tell you.

My first reaction is favorable.  The battery was hard to install but charged unbelievably fast. Like everyone says it takes a long time to boot, lets hope it wakes from hibernation a lot faster.

A word of warning.  Don't turn it on the irst time just before you want to go to bed, it does the system restore backup to the hard disk without asking and that takes about 20 minutes.

    Re: Costco

Mine is on the truck for delivery, finally... I tried to pick it up this morning before coming to work but it didn't show up in the system so they wouldn't put a hold on it for me at the UPS facility so I have to wait until after work. I have some comp time coming maybe I'll use that up to get home early.

I got home a little while ago and have unboxed and it's doing the 20 min backup...

It looks like it came UPS Ground instead of the 2 Day that I paid for... I'll have to check into it. Anyone else seem to have that problem? Oh well I got it finally....

Still shows "In Progress" at Costco's website...

    Re: Costco

How did you know it was out for delivery? Did you somehow get that info through a costco cs rep?

I placed my order LAST friday, and costco didn't call me or anything, but on tuesday I get an email saying my cc was denied. So I immediately called costco and while on the phone with the girl, my order gets cancelled! Needless to say I was pissed, as I should have received the item on tues or wed, plus it was oos. Fortunately, since my order was cancelled, my item became available and I was able to repurchase it on wed. Expedited shipping, etc. Well, like everyone else, it still shows in progress, and when I call the costco cs all they say is yup, its in process. They don't care that people are getting their product before the costco site even says shipped.

So anyways, I have expedited shipping, and hopefully it will get here today or tomorrow. I plan on tearing it apart for everyone, to check our ram upgradability and whether the hdd is ziff, which it probably is.
