    Re: Costco shipping

I got the Vista model + the extra battery from Buy.com, but I'm having a hard time getting used to the form factor and to Vista.  I'm thinking of just selling the Samsung and getting like a 12" or 13" laptop.  I just can't hand write as fast as I can type.  But then I've been typing on a 15" notebook, so I guess I should try the keyboard on one of those 12" before I buy one.  But my experience with Buy.com was good.

"The item you ordered is no longer available. That's not a lie. You ordered a 600Mhz machine that Samsung decided not to ship. Blame them, not Buy.com."

same inventory # equals the same product. there was never a 600mhz version for sale from Buy, period. if you had ever worked in any field that had complete reliance on inventory #'s you would understand this. but i wont argue about pure undeniable 100% fact, so i digress.

    Hi,
Anybody heard any ETA on the XP Tablet version?  BLT is listing their availability date as the 27th .

my previous response to another thread applies even better to you..

keyword in your paragraph was "laptop". in my mind anyone who can settle for using a laptop & call it their portable machine, should not own a UMPC. these are 2 completely different machines with completely different users in mind. UMPC's are true portable vertical-market machines intnded for people who desire true mobility. besides this 1 gigantic advantage (which encompasses several small categories) they offer no other advantages to the laptop market.

personally, i'm done with laptops. i will no longer keep setting a machine down on a flat surface & then spend my life hovering/pivoting around it. thats why i made the jump to the vertical-market.

    Re: Costco shipping

I understand that.  I was hoping that I would adapt to the form/utility factor and it would fit nicely for me, but it's really impossible to know until you've lived with one for a period of time.  I'm just finding for me that I either want something the size of a PDA/Blackberry for true portable or I want a laptop with a keyboard.

But I can see where other users depending on their work would really love the Samsung.  I'm actually pretty disappointed that it's not fitting for me since it's such a cool machine.  The build quality is excellent.

    Re: Costco shipping

12"-13" is still pretty big & generally weigh in the 4lbs range. have you considered the 10.6"/11.1" sub-3lbs & under? those are highly tossable & easy to manipulate with 1-hand. look at companies such as Sony, Fujitsu, Panasonic (even Averatec). if you want even SMALLER with a real KB maybe you should consider the Fujitsu P1610 (8.9" convertible). or hell, maybe wait for the new HTC Shift?

your concerns over a 15" KB versus a 12" KB will be completely subjective. personally, i MUCH prefer small KB's (less finger travel time). i really hate big KB's & absolutely despise desktop KB's.

    Re: Costco shipping

Does anyone know the reason for the constant slippage of the date for shipping the NP-Q1U/000 XP version of the Q1 Ultra?  I ordered one in May from PC COnnection and the ship date has slipped from 6/3 to 6/11 to 6/15 and now to early July.

    Thanks, Tom

    Re: Mobile Planet

I called MobilePlanet and asked when the EL version will be in, and the rep said, there is no definite date, it's showing a couple of weeks...

I really hope other vendors start getting the EL version this week!

Re: Q1 Ultra availablilty thread. Status : Available!

As of this post, BestBuy.com no longer shows any Q1Ps for sale. They've been clearing them for the past four weeks or so (first with a sale - then setting the price to $1150).

I suspect that we'll see the Q1U-V show up shortly. I doubt they'll be bringing in all four models - most likely Q1U-V and Q1U-EL.

    TW!

Finally BestBuy.com has the low end Q1 ultra for sale at $899.99. Nothing on bestbuybuisness.com though.
