    JKK,

Was it the latest watcher software from Sierra Wireless, the Vista version for the 875U?  I'm trying now to remove the mc8775, then install the software, then re-intall the mc8775 to see if that works.

It was the generic version... latest for xp ... not anymore at sierras site... latest vista should do fine, i don't think it's a sw issue.

... you said that q1u didn't even see the modem?

so maybe pci-e bus is not powered? try to look at device manager...

doesn't come with an aerial, looking for one on ebay.  It is a standard antenna connector labeled "50 ohm u.fl rf connector". There seem to be both some internal antennas and those with a connector to a standard external.

Right now nothing shows up on device manager as far as the pci-e slot, I'll look for a process or service that maybe needs to be started.

This sounds very promising, so much so that I thiught I'd make my first post Smile [:)]

When I bought my Q1 ultra I thought I could live without the built in HSDPA...how wrong was I!

I've been scouring the internet for a mini PCI card and more information since I got the device, but can't find where I can buy such a card in the UK Sad [:(]

Update is the modem is working no problems but I get hspda speeds at home and gprs speeds at work, obviously the opposite to what I need, it has to be aerial related, anyone recommend stong aerials for sale?

Sounds good! I managed to find a Expedite EU870D which I believe should do the job at a place called mobilx.hu, its the only place I can find that sells MiniPCI HSDPA cards... where did you get yours?

could this be because of the shielding stuff on the inside of the Q1U's case stopping the signal?

would sanding it down in the necessary place around the aerial help perhaps?

    Hi,

just wondering how you were getting on with this now in terms of signal. Did you manage to get another aerial and any improvement?

I've tryied to contact mobilx.hu about the card and delivery etc but I've had no reply, which makes me a little cautious. Did yours take long to arrive?

Has anyone else bought from their shop before? I just don't want to spend £200 on something that im never going to recieve.
