    Re: Kohjinsha SH6 video review

    Just watched it.  Very nice.
I'm sold.  Very surprised how responsive the system was loading apps.  Must be a combo of the 2GB RAM and fast hard drive.  I was even more surprised how Media Center perfomed.  Much more responsive than my Q1.
It's too bad the thumbstick is hard.., but to even have 3 ways of controlling the mouse (touchscreen, track stick, and touchpad), it's really flexible.
Too bad there's no HSDPA/EVDO option.  That's one thing I really want.  I can probably deal with a USB solution.  Or if I'm really daring, replace the wifi mini PCI express card with a HSDPA/EVDO module and see if a SDIO or CF wifi card will work.

I'm sold but will wait until the end of the month.  If an 800Mhz version comes out by then, we shall see, but I'm sure I will be satisfied with 600Mhz just from the video.  I'll email Data Evolution and ask if they will be carrying a US version of it.  Maybe the battery life issues will be solved and I can use a US keyboard.

I'm really surprised. The better graphic chip makes this device perform a lot better than the eo v7110.

Do I sense Frank shifting his opinion on Stealey based UMPC's?
    So it ain't so! :)

    Rodfather:
I'd like to exactly the same thing. I have a spare Novatel U720 USB modem with an easily removable Sprint EV-DO minipci card. Do you have any idea what antenna solution would work, if I replace the wifi mini PCI express card with the U720?
    Thanks

    Re: Kohjinsha SH6 video review

If the battery life did not drag it down the SH6 would be a real winner in UMPC land.

    Good review, good video.

    Re: Kohjinsha SH6 video review

There is no pci slot in kohjinsha, wifi is usb module..

...so making internal evdo or hsdpa, would mean u would have to take the hd out and use cf or sd as a main media....

.. u would also need to solder that usb moden to left or right usb port, losing it for other use.

I said that it works better than the eo v7110 which I'm not using any more beside for test Wink [;)]
I checked the video and my Q1 with 2 GB of RAM has a sharper response opening programs and screens. The 915 with 256 MB of Shared RAM probably will perform about the same than the 945. Just remember than in the first betas of Vista, Aero ran on 915s Wink [;)] You can be sure about one thing Rodfather, now that I have more statistics I'm more convinced that none A110 is for me. So you wont see me jumping into that boat. I'll wait with my old Q1 until I get what I want which is nothing to do with what I see in the A110 or A100. But... That's me. And you know me, I'm doing stuff that according to some I was not supposed to do in my UMPC. Big Smile [:D]

Or lets put it in a different way, I jumped once in the boat of "More Battery Life" and did not like what I saw there. So I jumped to another boat and I'm looking to jump again but so far I have not found the proper boat for me. So, I'm waiting.

    JKK,

How hot does the Kohjinsha SH6 run in comparison to the Asus R2H you had and where do you feel the heat, if any?
