    Spooky weird

Just out of curiosity, looked at tablet settings and when asked to calibrate, the Q1 showed the screen with crosshairs....so it is being recongised as a tablet but no touch!

check this screen. It should look like that. If the first checkbox is unchecked you wont have touch capability.

seems like i7209/10 with Vista is nogo...

it worked when installed... but after sleep it's gone like with generic microsoft drivers...

But with XP it seems to work 100% ...  floating tip comes automagically....

when i uninstall the touchkit driver it doesnt ask me to delete files. i presume refresh hardware means scan for new hardware. when i do that it just automatically places the touchkit driver back. its a loop. i am on xp btw.

    cheers

There is an option when you unistall using Device Manager to be selected when you want to delete those files. But if you are having problems with this step, just uninstall Touchkit using Control Panel, Remove Software.

    JKK,
Besides not having to run floattip.exe and touchkit are there any other benefits such as Smoother ink?

Hurrah - got it. The check box wasn't checked for touch setting. Re-booted and now it is working. Big mouse thing though......that can wait for another time.

Thanks a million! You're a star for this!

    ink is smooth now...

right click menu works now as it should in ie ( touch and hold )

but login screen is not calibrated right...

i dont ink, so for me the best thing is right click menu working now... ( opening new link on new tab etc..)

    GOOD JOB FRANK !!!

Working here. Its smoother when scrolling up and down web pages. Wish I could ink but it just doesnt work smoothly enough for me. I am always correcting spaces that it doesnt put in.

Re: Finally! HID Support for Q1 Upgraded to Vista.

Thanks for the hard work Frank.

Just passing along my experience in case
anyone runs into the same problem. If a
Vista upgrade refuses to delete the
    Touchkit drivers, go into
    Windows/system32/drivers and delete the
    xtouch.sys driver. Reboot. Now uninstall
and delete the Touchkit driver from the
    Device Manager. Proceed with installing
the new driver as Frank has laid out.

    michelangelo:

    1- step 4:

Open the Human Interface Device Branch, locate the USB Human Interface Device (Microsoft), if you have a USB mouse connected you probably will see two of them

I had three but none of them had the correct hardware ID, tried to update their drivers but didn't work. So I went back to "Mice and other Pointing Devices> USB TouchScreen Controller', choose 'I have disk...', two elements appear, one of them is 'USB Human Interface Device'. I selected it and driver installation finished nomally.

I have four USB Human Interface Devices.  None of them have the hardware ID mention.  I do not know how I should proceed.

Re: Finally! HID Support for Q1 Upgraded to Vista.

    did you fully uninstall Touchkit?

    Capture

Another point, once you uninstall Touchkit  Microsoft HID should take over and be installed automatically by Vista  and as result your touch screen should be working. is your touchscreen working?

No Frank, I was going through the steps first to make sure I could do everything without any problems before I began.  I will do later today.  I guess it will be fine after I actually unistall the Touchkit.  Thanks.

     2+2=4
Do no expect to see 4  if you do not have any of the 2
