that´s weird because that test has been ran lately almost in all UMPC realeased. Try to run it as adminstrator.

HerDinky: Yes, that one looked interesting, but I do not think the two parts could be detached. I would really like that.

Mharrison: I agree that handwriting works very well for English (I am using it now). I really hope Microsoft will add support for more languages. That would probably make me stay with Vista.

I like the idea of using DVD player accessories. Please let me know it you find anything promising. l will also start looking now.

Are you using AutoRoute or Streets and Trips?I have AutoRoute and I experienced the same problem. However, l noticed that there is a button you have to push to Recalculate the route.

Re: Has anyone bought the R2Hv?

gah, I'm having lots of blue screens and failing device functions (within Vista) with this unit.  The display will stop recognizing input and I'll have to disable, "remove" and re-add the device in "Device Manager" for instance.  Even the biometric scanner required a reboot to get working at one point.  I also notice the shoddy resuming function as noted above.  The Bluetooth manager will also cause occasional blue screens.  I may need to uninstall more background apps to make this device run faster but the stock videos within Vista stutter massively (the sound playback is smooth, the video playback pauses for 5 seconds at a time before playing).

Also, from what I understand from the specs, this device can only support 1GB of RAM.  Does 2GB noticeably improve importance?

Any other comments on the above are also welcome.

Re: Has anyone bought the R2Hv?

I've get a few Blue Screens also, but coming out of sleep and hibernation has gotten better. I have had the device totally lock on startup I'll push the power button the power led will light up but it will have no hard drive activity. I'll have to hold the power button to shut it down then restart.

I haven't tried the biometric scanner yet, Bluetooth hasn't caused me any problems I've only used it to tether my phone for data connection.

Re: Has anyone bought the R2Hv?

Hmm,  Interesting thread.  Especially for me as I have also just placed an order for one (hopefully arriving sometime this week).

In Australia, they come with the external DVD-RW drive, USB Keyboard and USB mouse.  I looked at the Q1U which was lighter, better battery life, and had a better screen - but I wasn't wrapt in the feel of the keyboard and cost was about the same without the extra's and the 2 year warranty.

So hopefully, I've made a good choice.  I'll post results when I get it.  I'm a fairly constant PDA and tablet PC user, so I'm hoping to semi retire the PDA(s), and have something a little smaller than the toshiba M4 for reading manuals and taking notes in meetings.  You only get the 2-cell battery in Australia - so from the looks of this thread I am going to be stuck with 2 hour battery life until I get enough brass to buy either a 4-cell battery or the Mugen battery...

Re: Has anyone bought the R2Hv?

    My impressions of the R2Hv.
Ive had it for a week now. It was terribly slow when I got it. There are *lots* of programs that are autostarted! The unit sometimes locked up for a couple minutes, program crashed and touchscreen stopped working occasionally. But after reading ASUS R2H: A faster, leaner UMPC in 3 hours and the thread here about Superfetch, I removed lots of autostarted programs and disabled Superfetch. Now all problems are gone (or at least have not appeared for 4 days). The unit feels quick and is put to sleep fast. I normally run Firefox with about 5 tabs open, Adobe reader and EverNote simultaniously without trouble. Ive gone from disappoited to very satisfied in a week.
The package contained 2 and 4 cell battery (ca 2h respective 4h), DVD-RW, USB keyboard (swedish layout) and a DVB-T tv-tuner.
The usb keyboard is a rebranded Targus. I like the feel of it (but I prefer laptop keyboards over normal keyboards...) and QWERTY keys are as large as normal keyboard. Ctrl, Alt and nummerical keys are quite small, maybe a problem for someone with larger fingers? The downside of the keyboard is that its hard to use in your lap, not recommended! Would like a to have a solution like the Samsung organizer pack.
The tv-tuners quality is good when signal is good. A warning about the tv-tuner, the recording service eats cpu and I usually disable it when I dont want to record tv.
The quality of the pictures from the camera is not good. The camera in my mobile phone Motorola MPx220 (also 1.3M pixel) is on par or better and that is not a good camera.
After using the ASUS for a week I really like it and would recommend it. Just remove some autostarted programs and you have an excellent UMPC.

Re: Has anyone bought the R2Hv?

I was just reading the post on ASUS R2H: A faster, leaner UMPC in 3 hours, and did a search for Spybot. I came up with 2 programs and was wondering which one you used Spywarebot or Spybot Search and Destroy?

The camera isn't that great but is better now that my failing eyes noticed a plastic flim covering the section that houses it.

Re: Has anyone bought the R2Hv?

Now I feel stupid. I had not removed the plastic film! The camera is probably better than the one in the MPx220.
Thanks, that was a cheap hardware upgrade ;-) I better go check my eyesight...

I use Spybot Search and Destroy, downloaded from MajorGeeks.

Re: Has anyone bought the R2Hv?

It's about time I found a way to help someone else. I'm downloading spybot now, I hope this will help the sleep function to work better.

How many processes do you have running at startup?
