    Re: IE7 in Q1

I've had this problem intermittantly on the i7210, but not limited to IE7 (so maybe we're talking about different things).  In addition to the insert button not doing anything, if you make changes to your individual letters those changes do nothing when you switch out of the letter zoom mode back to the regular text strip (make sense?).  For me I have to either kill the process or reboot to get the TIP to behave properly again.

Thanks for the heads up on GeckoTip. I'm now enjoying trouble-free TIP usage on FF 2.0!

    Re: IE7 in Q1

We were able to reproduce this problem. Our initial investigation indicates that something is misconfiguring the Tablet OS by turning off support for advanced text insertion into all applications. This is completely unsupported on a Tablet PC and we're working to track down how this setting got turned off. In the meantime, I'd like to confirm that this is the entire cause of the problem you are seeing.

Please can you check this setting:

Control Panel -> Regional and Languages Options ->  Languages -> Details -> Advanced -> "Extend support of advanced text services to all programs"

This checkbox should always be checked on a Tablet PC. If it's not, please try checking it, rebooting and then see if the problem in IE7 evaporates.

    Thanks, Adrian.

    Re: IE7 in Q1

I applied the setting as described and it also fixed the problem I was having with IE7 using the written text in the TIP on my Q1 - Pentium also.

    Re: IE7 in Q1

For your information, this is affecting all PCs running XP. No matter if they are Tablet or not. I have multiple language installed in my desktop to change the keyboard from English to Spanish. This need that option to be on and it was turned off as soon as I installed IE.  I did not know what caused that but now that it's mentioned here I found the relation to what happened to me.

The option will be off by default on a standard desktop XP installation. It will only be on by default on a Tablet PC XP install.

I turned it on to have Spanish Keyboard support in all applications and when I installed IE7 it turn it off. That´s what I was trying to say.
