Hey NeoTechni, you should add something that detects the resolution, and new background images to fit different resolutions. Been playing with your app (which is very nice) on my UX180, all of the UX UMPCs use a 1024x600 resolution, and it would work with no problem on the UXs if you added a higher resolution background. At the moment, the maximize button works well, but there is a big white area where the background doesn't fit. Good luck with the app.

Have you updated recently? I've solved that issue. The BG even reloads when the form is bigger than before.

    Thank you though

Cool, I'll update to the bigger version. A friend of mine is having an issue using it on his UX90S, hes running XP (btw I asked someone to test it on Vista using the UX, and I can confirm that it works), here is his error message -

Component COMCTL32.OCX or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid

Edit: Also, it would be nice if you could put version labels on these since you are making so many changes, or include a small .txt file as a changelog in the eXPerience folder.

COMCTL32.OCX can be found in http://www19.rapidupload.com/d.php?file=dl&filepath=27913 just put the OCX in the same folder as this program

Thank you for checking vista. And the version label is a good idea

-Corrected the file icons. Non-albums/slideshows no longer have the little frame around them

-Icons are now centered within their little item space

-Hardware button support added. Go to Settings then Controls to bind your buttons

-There is now an option to erase the media library (the database, not the files themselves)

-The version number is now displayed next to the (non-functional) Help button

    All that remains:

-Add the other photo transitions (Slide, Mosaic, Kodak Moment)
    -Fix the Battery indicator
    -Fix the Restore/Maximize button
-That pink border when viewing programs (which only shows up on my UMPC but not my desktop)

Is there a way to pull album art in from Windows Media Player? Also, any way to make the app open in full screen every time? A back button would be a very nice addition as well : ). Just a few suggestions.

Yes to all 3. And a back button is in my version, I just don't don't upload for such minor features.

Thank you for the suggestions, I never would've thought of using WMPs album art

Np, I'm glad to see people developing apps for UMPCs, I hope there is more to come!

    Also, I've featured you here - http://www.micropctalk.com/2007/07/30/experience-origami-clone-for-xp/

Re: Would anyone be interested in an Origami Experience clone for XP?

    Program: http://rapidshare.com/files/46595007/XPerience.zip.html

    Misc: http://rapidshare.com/files/46595248/Skins_and_Source.zip.html

The "Misc" one includes a red tinted version, and a black/white version of the main skin. Put them in the same folder as the program/skin as they depend on the song.bmp. (Or put song.bmp in whatever folder you put those in) Those are extremely simple remixes of the main skin, but completely new ones are possible, I just don't have time for that during development.

It also includes the source code as requested (on the site the guy above me linked to) and the MSCOMCTL.OCX

    Progress Report:

I beleive I have fixed the battery level issues. Clicking the battery icon will now give more information. The opacity of the icon will now match your battery % level

You can now select which skin to use (next time the program is opened) in the Appearance settings

When viewing a folder list, the first item will be ".." which lets you go up a folder. Unless you are in the root directory already

    All that remains:

-The other photo transitions (Slide, Mosaic, Kodak Moment)
    -Restore/Maximize button
-That pink border when viewing programs
    -Album/Folder art
    -Save/Load windowsize

I have no clue of how to get album art from Windows Media. I can see the JPGs it leaves, but I don't know how to convert their filenames into album names.

I can however add the ability to download album art from a website (such as amazon.com)

Disabled the dead file checker, as it's not working correctly and just erases your artist/album/genre data. I recommend erasing your library (in settings) and letting it relearn. I appologize.

Had it default itself to your screen resolution - taskbarheight on opening. The background will load at your screen resolution. If your taskbar is on the left or right hand of the screen rather than the top or bottom, it will probably default to a height of zero pixels. You shouldn't run the taskbar like that anyway. Not sure if I will bother to fix this considering no umpc owner wastes that much screen space anyway.

    Down to:

-The other photo transitions (Slide, Mosaic, Kodak Moment)
-That pink border when viewing programs
    -Album/Folder art

Will upload the source after another version/significant change.

I've just read all of the great things you are doing.  I just wanted to let you know that everything you are doing is much appreciated.  Please keep up the good work!

Thank you. I appreciate it. I'm getting more of a response than when I cloned the iPod's interface.

Re: Would anyone be interested in an Origami Experience clone for XP?

In case the library corruption bug got you, and you're wondering how it slipped through my testing:

I run the program on my desktop in Visual Basic, I'm constantly killing the program without actually closing it. And the library saves when the program closed.

I simply assumed the lack of a library was the result of me killing the program before it saved, till I ran it on my UMPC and had the same problem, and realized it was doing the erasure when the program loaded, and put 2 and 2 together.

Re: Would anyone be interested in an Origami Experience clone for XP?

Good news: Interesting development, I seem to have found WMPs Media Library. Conveniently stored in xml format. A format that I invented HINI (the format I use to store settings and the Media Library) to replace. I even have code in HINI to import XML

    C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Media Player\wmdbexport.xml

Bad news: Looking inside, everything of value is encrypted.

Good news: I lied, it's not encrypted. It's obfuscated. And conveniently in a format I've used before. Base64 encoding. I can read the data. Whether or not it's of any use (giving me album art data) I don't know, but at least I can use it to import files.

If I'm lucky, the data I need is stored in the WM/MediaClassPrimaryID or WM/MediaClassSecondaryID tages which do appear to be GUIDs! (The text that looks like "{D1607DBC-E323-4BE2-86A1-48A42A28441E}" in the filenames of album art or other things you may have seen) or WM/WMContentID, TrackingID, WM/WMCollectionID, WM/WMCollectionGroupID

SmallArtURL and LargeArtURL obviously point to an online resource, but the URLs are incomplete. They lack the domain name.

    I also found HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\MediaPlayer\Player\RecentFileList

Amazing work NeoTechni, thanks for the effort. Dare I say it... faster and more involved than origami or are they, do you think, going to come up with something yet more amazing.

Again thanks for the fantastic effort

    Thank you, I appreciate it.

I think the fact that I've surpassed the original functionality (with dualview mode) would mean if MS is paying attention to me, they would try to outdo me.

I work for most of today and tomorrow so there won't be any progress till I get home from work on sunday

    But add

    -Importing the WMP export.xml library
-I want to have it scroll as you drag your finger across the list, maybe even add a scroll bar in between the up/down arrow buttons.

    To the list

-The other photo transitions (Slide, Mosaic, Kodak Moment)
-That pink border when viewing programs
    -Album/Folder art

Does anyone else get the pink border?
