snpg: I read somewhere that the Q1U came with AVSNow that allows you to play media files without booting into Vista. When I press the AV button on the side it just boots Vista and then runs the Windows version of AVS. Do I take it that only the original Q1 came with AVSNow?
BeDoig: I was wondering about that myself. I have only tried it once, but it did the same thing. Just booted into windows and launched the AVS program. Oh well, I always just leave mine in hibernate anyway.
Please try re-installing the AVSNow software from the CD, and let us know if it works properly.
I could try, but I have put in a 2GB ram card so it probably won't work anyway. Hibernate only takes 15-20 seconds to come out of anyway, so I have never had any real use for the program.
"Is it possible to load other software using the same AVSNow button?"
Does anyone actualy understand what happens the moment you push the AVS now Button? (I don't mean it turns on :p )
I mean understand deeply.
ameen:Is the AVSNow a problem caused by the upgrade of RAM to 2GB? Or is this being experienced by ALL Q1 Ultra owners, regardless of RAM upgrade? Someone who hasn't upgraded their RAM please say something. Does your AVSNow function work?
Mine has not been upgraded to 2 GB (see my experiences above).
I have the same problem, I press the AVSNow button when the computer is off, I see an AVSNow screen for a second and then Vista boots. After logging into Vista AVS automatically shows. The programmer that came up with this must have been a genius! Hopefully the Q1 will last me until Apple comes to the rescue.
ctitanic: My AVS Now partition stopped to work when I upgraded my unit to 1 Gb of RAM. I fixed and few days later it stopped to work again. After that I upgraded my unit to 2 Gb of Ram and now the AVSNow does not respond at all. So I'm back to the first time when I upgraded the RAM. But this time I'm not spending my time trying to fix it. I'm more into exploring other thing that we could use to replace that useless software.
On the Q1 Ultra, it seems that even people who havn't upgraded their RAM are having this problem. So maybe the problem on the Q1 Ultra isn't related to RAM at all...?

BeDoig:Hibernate takes about 20 seconds to come out of, and if that is too long you can just leave it in sleep. That only takes 3-5 seconds to wake up from.
But in the long-run, hibernate and sleep would still use up some battery, whereas AVSNow can turn on from complete shut-down; isn't that right?

devwild:Hibernate does not use battery, it stores resident memory to disk and turns off.
Then what's the difference between hibernate and shut-down?
