Somebody else had a similar problem at the following thread:
http://origamiproject.com/forums/thread/19001.aspx
This is what they did to solve the problem:
"Solved it!
It seems people had this problem when upgrading to 1Gb RAM too.
The jkOnTheRun method required a full reinstall of everything, and we've no guarantee that would work in this case with Vista. Luckily I found some more info and used that to fix it.
You will need a USB keyboard attached to your Q1.
Boot into AVS mode (make sure you have turned off from your last use of the Q1, nt hibernated).
After the AVS logo screen you get a screen with the progress bar filling along the bottom. Whilst on this screen press F8 and you will be presented with two options, 1 is to continue and 2 is to delete stored settings.
Choose 2 and continue.
You should now have AVSNow back!"

ctitanic:And what you are going to tell them? That in the way they described the whole thing is not clear? Or that you assumed that they included the AVSNow feature from the old Q1s?
It's not an assumption at all, because Samsung EXPLICITLY state that the Q1 Ultra has the AVS-Now instant-on feature. For example, please take a look in the table at the following link, and you'll see it says that ALL models of the Q1 Ultra have :
'Multimedia INSTANT-ON – AVStation NOW 5.0'.
http://www.q1ultramedia.com/pdf/Q1-Ultra-DatasheetL.pdf
What else does 'INSTANT-ON' mean to you? There is no other meaning to it; the program has to launch INSTANTLY. So if Samsung are not living up to their claims, then they need to do something about it.

and now ctitanic, I've just found the MOST EXPLICIT reference to the AVS-Now feature on Samsung's FAQ file. If you go to page 2 under the title 'What multimedia options does the Q1 Ultra include?', you will see that it CLEARLY states this:
"Additionally, the Q1 Ultra supports instant-on functionality enabling one boot directly into AVStation Now 5.0 which enables one to watch videos, movies and pictures, or listen to your favorite music files without the need to boot fully into Windows."
Here is the link to the FAQ file:
http://www.q1ultramedia.com/pdf/FAQ.pdf
surely you don't have any more doubts that the Q1 Ultra has the AVS-Now feature!

I have not had time to check that document but... It's not going to be the first time that a Company uses one manual for all the devices in the same Series. So far it seems to me that what you have read does not apply to these devices. To be sure all I need is somebody posting here the same screen shot I posted from my device manager. I think that you will see this feature in the XP Q1U.

That FAQ file is directly from Samsung's Q1 ULTRA website, www.q1ultramedia.com , so it is DEFINITELY about the Q1 Ultra, and NOT about any of the old Q1 models. There is no doubt about this at all, and if you're in doubt, then please check it for yourself by going to www.q1ultramedia.com , highlighting the 'Product info' tab on top-right, and clicking on 'FAQ'. This will bring you to this same file, and you will see that it even EXPLICITLY states that you don't have to boot into Windows to use AVS-Now! The FAQ even says the words 'Q1 Ultra' at the top! It certainly can't get any clearer than this.
Calm down! this is from that same file: I bet that if your call them they will tell you that they were talking about the units with XP.
