    What is this about fireworks?

Thanks for uploading the picture. It looks like the Q1 Ultra does have the AVS-Now partition just like the original Q1, isn't that right ctitanic? It has the same partition as the one you pointed out in this post:

The difference I see is that on your pic, the partition says 2.44 GB, whereas mini viper's partition says 10GB, but the AVS-Now partition is there nevertheless.

I believe the 10GB partition is for the system recovery.

Then how come ctitanic's pic shows 2.44GB for the same partition, which has the exact same status, 'Healthy EISA configuration'... ?

I don't know the answer to that question, but it was my understanding that the 10GB partition is for system restore. (see this thread for a reference)

Exactly.  That partition is the restore partition.  As you can see the AVS Now is smaller.  They could have put together the AVSNow and the restore files in the same partition  but so far I still think that you don't have AVSNow in your Q1Us. I just think that the reason is simple AVSNow uses Windows XP embedded.  And this one uses the Hibernation file of Windows XP.  In your case which is the same than my case once you have Vista, that XP embedded does not work anymore because of  incompatibilities in the hibernation file format.  That why you don't have AVSNow.  And that's why I think that it will be only present in Q1U with XP.

It's not a matter of what MAY be the cause of the lack of AVS-Now on these machines; the issue here is that Samsung has been EXPLICITLY advertising on several websites that ALL the Q1 Ultra models DO have the 'Instant-On AVS-Now'  feature, and now these customers are simply not getting what they were told they would get. So now it's a matter of resolving with Samsung the reasons for their untruthful claims, or finding out from them a way to fix this problem on the machines, so that the function works as advertised. Why do you take a very passive attitude towards this problem, and expect the disappointed Q1 Ultra owners to live with the problem, instead of trying to fix it?

I'm a very old dog in this world and I can tell your for sure what I already explained, that document is for all Q1U including the Q1U XP.  that feature will be present (probably) in the Q1U XP,  and that's a Q1U so  they are just omitting some details in their advertisements.  Something that's normal in these cases.

I really don't think anyone that has the Q1U is that disapointed by the lack of this feature.

Would have been a cool feature, but I for one am not going cry about it.

Exactly, I did what I have to do, I made it public porting about it at my blog.  But that's all, more is just a waste of time on something that is not worth it.

If it's something that's not worth it, then why have you posted in this thread so many times? Why are you bothered posting in here at all then? This thread is about AVS-Now, and you seem to be giving a lot of time and effort to something that's just a 'waste of time'.

Because the answer to the initial question was more important to me. Wink [;)]

I haven't read many of the psts but, 10 GB is way to big for AVS now. If we had a 10 Gig AVS + 10 Gig recovery thats a big 20 Gigs off  (then ad vista and you got a significantly smaller hard drive)

I believe the AVS partition was much smaller than 10GB.
