Because they are small I think Oqo will continue to tweak the 02 design with go faster stripes. By this time next year though I think the 02 will look quite dated, like the Model 01 does now. Maybe they will suprise us with an 03 in Feb but I doubt it.

There might be a good reason why other manufacturers have not gone with the extremely small form factor of the OQO2 as the smaller screen really hinders the use of the device as a tablet and leaves potential customers thinkng of whether to pay less for a PDA or an internet companion device.

To get real work done on such a small screen might deter many buyers. Those will good eyesight might choose to give it a try. But, mostly I think the current 7" inch screen is optimal for both long term usage and tablet capabilities. A dual mode active digitizer might really make writing on the screen a delight for users.

With such a small device that is mostly used to access emails, and maybe some webpages using a VPN connection, the OQO2 might fit the bill. But, I don't see too much demand for it. Good luck OQO! I still don't know why they would put an active digitizer in such a small screen. It's not like anyone will rest their palms on it while writing. No place to put the stylus on the device. Might be good for real estate people that can digitally sign documents on the go

I've had no problems using the pen for inking, drawing, or navigating with the 02.  I've read just as many complaints about the 7" screen UMPC's as the 5" 02 being too small, and more complaints about the inking experience with the soft touchscreens.

I'm glad OQO went active digitizer instead of passive, it provides a great inking experience.  I also read reviews saying the Sony UX with 4.5" touchscreen is too small for touchscreen navigation, although I still see plenty of benefit with the touchscreen experience even in small screens as long as the inking experience is not compromised.

I did not get the 02 for PDA functionality or lite MID use, I've replaced my personal laptop with the 02 for almost all of my personal & professional work. The small size works great for ultra mobile use, couch computing, or discreet note taking in meetings, while having the flexibility of docking with a DVD-R burner and full size display, keyboard, & mouse.

    Igor Sotelo:
Anyone has additional technical details about the OQO model 2 EVDO WWAN module? The power consumption compared to the Wi-Fi radio, how possible is to unlock, if it has 1X RTT compatibility for areas without EVDO, if it supports both CDMA frequencies, etc.

Igor: Didn't want to ignore your question but I don't know much detail on this except that the EVDO WWAN module is pretty much the same one as is encased in Verizon or Sprint's EVDO USB version, although for some reason they introduced them first with Rev 0.

I have not activated mine yet so I don't know the battery life but get around 2 hours with Vista, WiFi at home and standard battery. I suppose ability to unlock and connection is similiar to users experience with the USB wireless broadband devices.
