I've been waiting on Newegg to start carrying the Q1UP, but I've also been looking around at other prices to see what's available.  I usually look at the Q1UP on buy.com, but today, I noticed there's a second model.  From what I can tell, here's the deal:

NP-Q1U/P01 - Q1UP-XP with U1500, 1GB RAM, and Windows XP Price: $1241.99
NP-Q1UAP01 - Q1UP-V with U1500, 2GB RAM, and Windows Vista (I'm guessing from the "V" since the detailed specs aren't there yet.) Price: $1449.00

A couple of observations here:

One, wow, $1449.00 for a UMPC.  And without an SSD drive.  They must really think we're all crazy.  (Oh yeah, I already paid $1200 for a Q1U-V.  Man, am I dumb or what?)

Second, at least someone at Samsung realized you needed 2GB of RAM for Vista.  Can I get a rebate on my 1GB Q1U-V?  And is the extra RAM and Vista worth a $200 price premium?

Lastly, $1449.49 for a UMPC.  Wow.

The real question is whether the processor and an extended battery are worth the premium. If you can get a Q1U-V for 650-750, you can upgrade the ram for $50.00. That leaves the only noticeable difference between same and this "new" model as the lack of extended battery and the processor.

I am currently in debate mode about buying the Q1U-V and either adding ram or XP ... or buying the Q1UP (xp version). With the only differences being the processor, operating system and battery, with the large price difference, I am struggling to decide.

Id pay us$1500 for a premium with a slidable keyboard and hsdpa modem without thinking, it would be my ultimate umpc!
