Just upgraded and WOW what a difference. Youtube video is fluid on streaming. No stutters at all now. Web pages load really fast too and the videos on the pages play without just stopping in the middle of watching them. 

This is my replacement for my beloved TC1100 and Dell X50V. It is even better than my Sony UX380N that I bought for my b-day back in Sept.

All these devices have their pros and cons, but I definitely prefer the 7" screen over the 4.5".

Also SD cards and NOT the Sony Memory Cards. I can't count how may times I would take a sd card out of my Q1 ultra vista and try to put it in my sony and SH.......T. Damn....etc. Not to mention the money I have lost trying to buy Sony MS and they were fake.

The writing in Vista recognition is really great for even my chicken scratch and much better on the 7" screen.

Please try and set up screen rotation on the easy buttons. I left a message somewhere on this forum about how to do it. I can rotate the screen in all 4 directions (left,right,upside down) just by hitting the direction arrows around the enter button on the the right. Now I can read ebooks, surf internet, and write in portrait just by pushing 1 button.

Getting ready to possible upgrade to 100 gb. I have the drive and Acronis True Image, but need to buy a 1.8" hd enclosure to do it yet.

Also, I need to know if the Intel 3945 abg wifi card is truely better than the Atheros thats inside that everyone is talking about. If it is better, then I was thinking about upgrading that too.

 

Yes as per your title they should have made 2gb standard, it would have added maybe us$50 to the price.

I bought this one off ebay for $610. Personally I consider this a great buy considering they run about $1200 new for the model I have now. The ram I bought was $40 on amazon, so $ well spent in my opinion. I am not a heavy user for business and such. I basically use it for movies, email, Word and Excel and ebooks. Oh and IE. The portability is what I have been after. There is nothing like reading my magazines from zinio on this device, abet small but readable. The weight of the device is wonderful. I would not mind upgrading to the Core Solo, but the extra weight is what I am concerned about.I am really interested in the Q1 U with the Atom processor I have been reading great thing about the chip as far as very good graphics and really incredible battery life. We will see!

Amen on the above... if you're listening sammy... 2 gigs would do a lot for your sales.  A lot of people are turning these machines down because the test units are just slow with 1 gig.

I was under the impression that more ram would cause temperature problems. but if not, i am going to upgrade my model 02 ASAP.

Temperature problems? It may be a little hotter, so I can see that... but I've had it upgraded for months now and I haven't had any problems (and I even hold my Q1U on the right side as I am a lefty.)
Go for the two gigs... it's so worth it when you can get them under 40 bones.

at this rate, and the problems I am having with my tower with Vista. I think for the price that RAM is I am going to upgrade to 4GB. Vista is a resource hog definitely. I am still getting somewhat sluggish behavior in IE and other programs when trying to move pages around with a stylist or my finger; but tolerable. Today I have been really curious what this baby would be like with Tablet OS on it? I have my TC1100 disks and am really thinking that Tablet OS and XP pro are not as resource hungry as Vista. Which means a more snappier system. But the time involved! OK time to eat Chinese tonight :)

1st off, I have the Q1 ultra with the A110 800 MHz intel with the split keyboard I think all except the premium is really easy.

 I have watched Hugo Ortegas video about 20 times on Youtube. Look up samsung q1 and you will see a bunch of  videos. The one you want is upgrading Ram on the Q1 ultra.  ok here is the link:

The type of ram I used for this model was from amazon.com.

please understand that this is for the ultra a110 and premium models. I think I read somewhere that the older models of the Q1 could only take a maximum of 1GB because of the OS being XP or tablet. Please correct me here everyone! if I am wrong!

Hope this helps. I would make sure you have the proper screw driver to get the screws out. They are snug, but you can get them out. You can do it!

im not sure about the oqo, but i was reading about the oqo before i chose the samsung. you might want to check www.OQOtalk.com for more information

 I think the OQO's memory may be soldered onto one of the mainboards. In that case, the memory is not user upgradable.

I have a NP-Q1 with 2gb running Vista, runs just fine.

There is no point in putting more than 3gb with a 32bit OS as Vista and XP can't address that space.

Can the Samsung Q1P Ram be upgraded? If so, can you tell me which Ram to buy?
