I'm wondering, are there any plans for an XP version?
Or are we going to be left out again for being supportive
    from the beginning?

Re: Origami Project 2.0 is now available for download

Considering that a lot of the first Origami's won't be all that useful with Vista, it's suprising that MS has forgotten us so quickly.

Also, considering the low uptake on Vista, it's also surprising that MS is being so stingy.

But lest we forget, in less than a month XP is no longer supported any way.

Re: Origami Project 2.0 is now available for download

I have an OQOe2 with 64gb ssd loaded with vista.

After using origami experience 1 on my old sony ux and recently my new oqo, i was looking forward to the 2nd experience pack.

But......it is so slow and seemingly resource hungry.  especially when compared to the nimble speed that made the first one so attractive.  Yes there are some good things brought together, but not worth the system wait.

Im unsure why origami central can only be accessed through origami now (i did like the drop down screen boot icon though).

Its not optimised for the OQO screen as the writing clutters, though strangely fixes itself if i run the pen over it - a glitch perhaps.

Unfortunately im going back to origami 1, but keeping the picture password (just loading that as a custom version).

Would appreciate some Origami comment on system resource and the exp 2 pack.

I can only speak for my OQO install, but it was very poor. Very sad to be a retro grader, but exp pack 2 doesnt work well at all in the speed dept.

This looks pretty good on my Q1U-V so far.  At the desktop, I use the Q1 screen as a secondary monitor. Is there a way to get Origami to move over there? If it is possible, it could act as another type of Vista sidebar.

Re: Origami Project 2.0 is now available for download

    Hi

Thanks for this great release !

    Its. work fine.

    My Constellation:

    Samsung Q1 No.1   P4 M  Dothan.  1Ghz.

    2GB  Kingston RAM

    32GB Sandisk UATA 5000

    Vista HP Sp1

the OE2  is many better as first origami .

nevertheless i have small bugs in this software.

    1.

I can't not change the Login Picture Password.

    When i go to Start>All Programms>Microsoft Origami Experience>Origami PicturePassword?

Then  i select a new Image in my folder.  Than press Place completely. And nothing happens? The computer does not become closed !

Question: Must the new selected Image exact 600x600 pixels have?

    2. My RSS  Feeds in Origami Now are not updated?  UPDATE: Sorry is not a Error. The Websides with taken the RSS Feeds have not a newer News.

    3. In Origami Now i selected Windows Mail as Emailclient.

So if i started fresh my UMPC. load and open a short Time Windows Mail at startup? Is this right?

    4. there are already new maps?  Or as one can create oneself own?

    Thnaks

    Sorry for BAd English

    Regards Hans

This is due to the graphics driver on the OQO causing corruption. Try turning off hardware acceleration on the graphics card and these screen artifacts should go away.

Re: Origami Project 2.0 is now available for download

Appreciate the response, but it distinctly dogded the main question at hand.

    Performance

Look and feel and touch were all adddressed with oxp1 - along with performance.

Building an all singing, all dancing eperience is great, but if its not nimble, it loses its usefulness.

    OXP2 is a resource hog.

For the here and now, its no good.   I have an OQOe2 64gbssd - its a notable player in the UMPC market, but OXP2 is useless with it.

Can you pep it up for 2.1?!

Re: Origami Project 2.0 is now available for download

Just downloaded it last night. Tried it with my Fujitsu U1010 (800Mhz - 1GB RAM), and boy, was it S-L-O-W. can't really enjoy the screen transition animations really, which means failing everything. Stutters A LOT. Also tried to run slideshow with my family pictures, and again, the screen froze, and then it ran again, and then it froze again, and so on...

any real tip to deal with this?
