Touchscreen doesnt work on my R2Hv...

        Hi there!

I have had problems with my Asus R2Hv on and off for a some time now, sometimes a while after startup the touch part in touchscreen stops working. But now it doesn't work at all, i haven't reinstalled and im hoping that i wont have to go that far... Anyone that had the same problem? Since i have not reinstalled windows i cant tell if its just the software or it is the hardware but since there seems be alot of software problems on the R2Hv (atleast on mine...) i start there.

Re: Touchscreen doesnt work on my R2Hv...

If you have a 'lot of software problems' like you say, I would look into them. Must say my R2H with Vista Ultimate runs without a hitch.

If the touch-screens stops working after using the machine 'for some time' it very well might be a hardware/heat related problem and not software.

(why do a lot of people think 'reinstall' will solve problems?? I'm running machines that have not been 're-installed' for like 5 years... and I do install/remove a lot of beta software)

Re: Touchscreen doesnt work on my R2Hv...

First thing to do is to re-install the driver for the touchscreen. It doesn't seem to be available on the ASUS support site. Hopefully it's on the driver CD you got with the R2Hv. Second would be to re-install windows from the recovery CD. And if that doesn't help, your last resort is to contact ASUS tech support...

    Cheers! Stefan.

Because it often does solve the problem and is less troublesome than sending the unit in for repair. I've had problems with both the fingerprint reader and the wireless connection and both were gone after reinstalling the drivers. But if you don't have problems, there's no need to reinstall.

    Cheers! Stefan.

I had the same problem, and after a lot of reading on the internet it seems there are 3 common problems with the R2Hv. The touchscreen, the fingerprint reader, and the wireless network. These have one thing in common, they are all connected via USB. After a crash last Tuesday I got a message from Microsoft that there was a solution for the problem: Cumulative update rollup for USB core components in Windows Vista, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/941600 since I installed the patch I did not have anymore problems.  Big Smile [:D]

Re: Touchscreen doesnt work on my R2Hv...

I had a bunch of driver problem with my R2Hv.  Wireless would be flakey, the system would not always shut down, sleep mode was a joke and I had a bunch of boot problems.  The solution was to re-install Vista using the ASUS recovery tool.  There is a hidden partition on the device that you can get too when you boot the device, and from there you have the option to re-install to Partition C, D or both.  Since I saved all my data on D, I just did C, and BLAM all my problems went away.  Apparently the restore partition has newer drivers than what came installed on the device.  Weird, but I'll take it.

When I called ASUS support it was the first thing they recommended to do.  I wish I had listened to them, as it wound up being the LAST thing I tried.  I was fearful that it might brick the device, resulting in my having to mail it to ASUS for repair.  But now I know better :)  Heck I think I'll just do that from now on with every new computer I get!

Hi there i have my R2Hv back now, new motherboard and screen... And even though the touchscreen works it somertimes stops working (and now it has to be software related) I have used the recovery cd more than once and it never solved anything for me... Have just installed the Vista  USB rollup... update. I hope it will solve everything!

Please send me the touch screen drivers via e-mail dashko@o2.pl. I need them to reinstall my Windows XP, but I don't have drivers CD. Thanks in advance.

Have you used windows update and installed all availible? I used to have the same problems but it has all worked out by installing all Vista updates including SP1. I do still have a poor WiFi singnal although it works. Also have you updated the bios?
