    UMPC FOUNDER

    Dear Members,

I just come back from Dalian in China where I had the opportunity to purchase the UMPC Founder (1 GHz, 512 DDR, 60 Go, ...) with the complete set of accesories (Docking station and folding keyboard) for less that 1100 USD (Thanks for my chinese's wife for the hard negotiation with shop owner). The quality of the product is perfect and very professional. It's coming normally with chinese version of XP but the guys installed XP Pro in English for me (official version with Licence). The only thing is that is not the origami version with the virtual keyboard. Bit I'm not taking care about it because I don't want to write a thale with it !!

As soon as I will have some time (not before 7 days because I'm travelling), I will post some picture.

    Re: UMPC FOUNDER

So correct me if i'm misunderstanding, but you are saying the Founder runs "normal" XP not tablet edition?

    Re: UMPC FOUNDER

I believe he means that the version of xp that was preinstalled was the japanese tablet pc edition, but the englixh xp was the "normal" xp professional. c m i i w

    Re: UMPC FOUNDER

Expansys.ca lists the Founder as having XP Home installed, and not XP Tablet.  That's the #1 reason I didn't save a lot of effort and order that model.  (That, and that I wasn't certain that the XP Home on there wasn't the Simplified Chinese version straight from Hong Kong... which turns out to be the case.  The UK plug set doesn't rev my motor much either.)  It looks like a nice system, though, if you're willing to customise a bit or are comfortable with XP Home/Chinese.
