Hello.

Here comes my second application. This time it’s a small utility that permit to easily rotate the screen.

Technically, it is done with .Net 2.0 in C#, just calling some proc from user32.dll.

 

Personally, I put a shortcut in the launcher, to have it always under my finger. When the standard rotate function does not work anymore (and you have to reinstall the driver…), URotate still continue working ;-).

 

Touch on left, and the screen turn to the left.

Touch on right, and the screen turn to right.

Touch on down, and the screen flip itself.

The big X is to exit the program.

Can you tell me how to use it? When I download your file, it downloads a XML page. When I run the XML page, it brings me into IE.

I haven't "figured it out". i just upload my picces to my web host, and then link them to here. i think everyone else is diong the same, but I'd be happy to find otherwise.

Normaly, when you click on the install button on the web page, it install itself. But only if you have .net framework 2.0.

I'm developing in .NET 2.0 so I have it installed everywhere. Like I said in my blog... you are using one of those things from MS that never works fine.

I was able to download here:

Once you download it, rename the file to URotate.exe

Works like a charm.

Tested. It does not work in the eo.

Not working on the EO : what does happen ? Is the program launching ? If yes, what is the problem ?

The program only work when the resolution is set to 480 lines, and only rotate the screen in that resolution. So it only work in 800x480 or 480x800. If it is not the case, my program don't show the rotate button and you can only exit.
If you want I can dig further by making a little tool that show the available resolution on the EO and then try to adapt my program. Tell me if you want it.

I don't think the graphics driver in the EO allows any kind of rotation. Even if you were able to get it to rotate, the touch screen would not work correctly.

The program works but when you click in the icons to rotate nothing happens.

Borris - after download and install URotate worked great.  however, after clicking Exit, i have been unable to locate it again.  i re-installed it and it showed up and i was able to use it again.  however, after exiting it is no place to be found. 

how can i make a shortcut to it?

This device is an excellent idea, but I had a problem with it.

 

I shut down my computer with the screen in a rotated position. When I booted up again, I couldn't enter my password, because tapping on the keys of the virtual keyboard with the stylus produced no response. It appears that the calibration of the screen was no longer true. It think that although the screen orientation appeared normal, the calibration was as though the screen was still rotatated.

 

By plugging in a mouse I was able to put in my password. The desktop, when it appeared, was rotated, but the calibration with the stylus still appeared wrong.
