    Bluetooth on Vista in Q1

Hi guys, I really want to upgrade my Q1p to Vista Ultimate but so far after reading so many people's complaints about Q1's usability I'm kinda put off.  Anyhow, I still want to attempt it and so far I've heard that a lot of people are complaining about the bluetooth drivers (Broadcom Widcomm).  But I've visited their website and they said they do support windows vista so can anyone try and tell me the results?  The website is http://www.broadcom.com/products/bluetooth_update.php

You can try updating the Widcomm drivers using that website.  (I've heard how the Samsung's Widcomm drivers crashes the Q1 but there is a way to disable it in safe mode?)

From what i've heard, the new Vista bluetooth driver should be version 6.0.1.3900.  I updated my XP Widcomm driver and the Q1's bluetooth drivers provided by samsung are WAAAAAAY too OLD.  Thanks for your help!

Awesome.  I'm downloading it now.  I've visited that site recently but didn't notice the Vista compatibility the last time I checked.

The version on the Samsung site is 5.0.1.1200.  The version I thought I tried from that site was 5.1.0.2700.
    I found a copy here http://rapidshare.com/files/7408475/BTW_5.1.0.2700_x86.rar.html

    edit:
No go.  It's installing 5.1.0.2700.  I tried version 5.1.0.1600 that was listed for the Q1b but those didn't work well either.  It didn't straight up crash Vista but I couldn't get A2DP, network connection (tethering), and file transfers working.

Strange..... Well, I'll try to find version 6 and I'll report on it soon.  Thanks for the feedback Rodfather, your comments on installing Vista in other posts are extremely helpful!

YES! I found it. Version 6.  It's part of the Anycom products forums.  The version 6 is there! it's beta but the final versions are going to be released soon!  Can't wait!  Can anyone try it out if it works with A2DP?

No need to worry, the drivers should be fine because they're built for Broadcom Widcomm chipsets.

Re: Bluetooth on Vista in Q1

Excellent find Ordinator! I took the plunge and downloaded the Vista drivers and so far so good. I've only done the very vaguest of tests but so far the following have worked:

A2DP - in both client and server modes Big Smile [:D]
    AVCRP
    Sending and receiving files
    ActiveSync (with a WM SP5m)

DUN looks like it should work... if only I knew the right settings to use.

The biggest surprise was that the drivers use the Microsoft bluetooth interface. I'm not so sure if that's a good thing but at least bluetooth appears to be working. Yeehaw!

Re: Bluetooth on Vista in Q1

I just tried it out and I'm still having problems.  I can set up a partnership with both my phone & GPS receiver but that's about it.

For my phone, it shows no services available.
When making a partnership from my phone's interface, it shows the Q1 with no services.

For my GPS receiver, it shows 'Serial Port (SPP) SPP Slave' for the service.
In the COM Ports tab, outcoming and incoming ports were added but it didn't give a COM port to set it to.

I'm sorry about that Rodfather.  It is a beta version after all.  Now we just have to wait patiently for the Final Version. :-)

Re: Bluetooth on Vista in Q1

Sorry to hear you're having problems Rodfather. It's obviously not quite there yet for some hardware... and here's me thinking that bluetooth is meant to be hardware agnosticIndifferent [:|]

I managed to get dial-up working on an i-Mate SP5m thanks to PDANet and have been very pleased with the A2DP performace with said phone, a pair of iphono mini headphones and some Saitek speakers.

Re: Bluetooth on Vista in Q1

Works great here. My main need was A2DP support and I now have that back! Big Kudos!
