    US focused i guess?

Thats not 'all' there is in the world!

I should have reliable EU info next week. Hoping there will also be a nice spread of devices although i doubt it.

Well, I'm not waiting.  Although I did see some great comments on the OQO 2 today.  I'm buying one of these soon.

Re: Q1 Ultra availablilty thread. Status : Unavailable

I talked to my local Best Buy on Friday and they said they have placed their order with HQ for the Q1 Ultra and they should be here in a week or two.  I'm hoping early this coming week.

I also called my Circuit City but they didn't have good news, but they are outside of the area of D.C. so I didn't think they would get any in.  It sounds like we will only be able to get them online from CC.

I just talked to Best Buy on the phone and will probably stop in after work to confirm it, but the rep on the phone said he could order it for me and have it in two days at the store.

Now to get the boss to OK it...

Update: Well it was to good to be true...  They weren't able to pull anything up on the new Ultra in their system.  Maybe next week?

The rep is probably looking at the Q1 non-ultra. There isnt even a sku number for the Samsung Q1 Ultra at BestBuy. They probably see "Q1 Ultra mobile PC" and think thats the Q1 Ultra when infact its just the old model.

Its going to be at least a week before anything pops up anywhere.

The Ultra will be sold buy PC Connection so I gave them a call to see if they have a date when they will be in stock.  The rep said it will probably be 2-3 weeks for them, but that's probably the standard answer.

I also called CDW to see when they would be available and they said Mid to late June.  Looking like a delay for the U.S. as well?

Re: Q1 Ultra availablilty thread. Status : Unavailable

Well did my round of calling places. My rush is due to the fact I'm leaving on vacation on June 12th, need it deliverd before then .

Called Samsung USA, they are almost clueless as to the availability. But after some checking his guess was 2-3 weeks. Which is too late for me.

Best I got was CDW who says thier ETA is June 5th, they have ordered 35 Q1U's (NP-Q1UA000) They currently have 31 orders in for those 35 (including mine). They told me to call back next week to check in to see if that ETA is still on target. Only problem I have with CDW is they charge TAX :( $100 extra brings the total to $1,324.68 ($23.73 w/ 2-Day Fedex delivery option). It's Still less that what paid for my Q1P so can't complain too much, especially since I made $100 extra because Costco let me return it at the original price I paid (they gave me a $100 discount because of a price drop).

PCNation wasn't so sure about when but again 2 weeks or more. I believe it was CompSource that said most likely the week of June 7th, they ordered 60 of them.

Re: Q1 Ultra availablilty thread. Status : Unavailable

Sorry about the post blitz... the problem appears to be that "the machine is not working correctly..."  - I could barely believe it when I heard it but that quote is from a retailer.

When pressed on what the technical problem is, his reply was:

"At first they thought they had a screen problem, then a battery problem, then some sort of software instability... basically I think [i.e. the retailer] that they [i.e. Samsung] don't want to be the next Sony with or Dell with a huge recall on their hands!"

Ps. I'm working on a longer post which this quote will be part of...

Re: Q1 Ultra availablilty thread. Status : Unavailable

Very interesting, so I wonder are they still working on a FIX for whatever is wrong, or have they fixed this issue but only very recently and thats the reason why the delay, because they are barely just now starting to churn them out, ie low quantities.

I certainly don't want a unit in the US if its got some major issue...
