In Wired 15.06, they review 4 "Handheld Computers".
The article is titled Chips Off The Ol' Block, and in it they review 4 UMPCs.
Out of a possible 10 "dots", the FlipSTart 1.0 was given a score of 8. The OQO model 02 and the Samsung q1 Ultra were given scores of 7 each. And the Sony VAIO VGN-UX380n was given a score of 6.
In typical Wired fashion, they covered the wired and the tired of each device. The wired is the good, and tired is the bad.
It is interesting to note that the Samsung was the lowest in price ($1200 vs ~$1950 for the others), and the biggest size screen (7" diagonal vs5.6"). And the Samsung was also the only slate/tablet in the bunch. (The only Origami as well.)
The reviewer found the keyboard tired on the FlipStart and the Sony. Also wished for a touch screen on the OQO.
Sprint's data network was wired on the Flipstart, though it felt to the reviewer more like it was a rugged device than ahandheld PC. The Sony was wired for its generous cameras (2), but tired for Cingular's EDGE data network.
Doesn't seem like the devices themselves were the focus of the review.
