(Big) Issue with OE2 Browser - Multiple Browser Windows

I wrote this in the general OE2 thread in April, but nobody from the dev team seemed to bother. Maybe I can get a reaction this time:

    mw65719:

I have a (German) Shift with OE2 installed.

And I like the touch-optimized web browser that is included with it and would prefer it over "standard" browsers - theoretically.

But I continue to use IE (and might probably try Opera, Safari and Firefox, but for the moment IE will do).

    Why?

The OE web browser seems to have one major bug: If a website opens a new window, the browser turns to a white screen and does not open the new window. As I don't want to use different browsers depending on whether a website is opening separate windows or not, it is back to the "old" stuff.

So if any of the OE2 developers should read this thread: Fix the embedded web browser!

To add more details: It seems that the "white screen" issue happens when the new window is opened via Java script. If the new window is opened with the classic html "target=", the OE2 browser will display the content in its main window (not in a new one) which is also not very helpful if you would need to switch between the two browser windows or want to go back to the original content after multiple actions.

As the OE2 browser is based on IE7, what happened to multiple browser windows or tabbed browsing?

Re: (Big) Issue with OE2 Browser - Multiple Browser Windows

The Origami Central V2 browser is designed to run inside a single window to make touch interaction easier. The browser does not support tabbed browsing in V2. When browsing to an external link or opening up a new tab that new page will be browsed to in the current window.

    Thanks,

    Ross
