Display bigger than 7 inches, and no touch pack installed = no origami. But it looks good.

    Re: I think I've discovered a new UMPC: C1

It does not have Touch Pack installed so it's not an Origami, it's a MicroTablet PC according to their own definition even when Windows XP Tablet PC Edition does not appear listed as available OS. This unit is equiped with an arm of accessories as you can see at the bottom of that page: BT foldable keyboard, video cable and a rugged case. These are the things that make a unit really apealing to buyers. It seems to me that Motion finally have found competition.

    • Processor: VIA Eden- 1GHz

    • Hard Disk: 40GB up to 100GB

    • Memory: 128MB DDR/256MB DDR/512MB DDR/1GB DDR

    • Video RAM: S3 UMA (AGP 8X LVDS Interface)

    • System: Whizpro Bios, APM 1.2

    • Communications: Wireless - Wi-Fi 802.11b/g & Bluetooth Integrated

    • Modem: - NOT included in Australian Model due to approvals.

    • LAN - Realtek 10/100 Base-T

    • Sound: AC-97 Audio on board sound,16-bit stereo, full duplex built-in speaker and microphone

    • Operating System: Microsoft Windows® XP Home Edition or Microsoft Windows® XP Professional

    • Display: 8.4" TFT LCD Touch Panel SVGA 800×600

    • Expansion I/O: 3 USB 2.0 port, 1 IrDA port, 1 Earphone jack, 1 Microphone jack, 1 PCMCIA Type II Slot, 1 Mini VGA output port, 10 HOT Key - Quick Access Button, 4 Directional Buttons

    • Accessories: Smart Case, Stylus Pen, AC/DC adapter

    • Battery: Removable Li-ion Standard Battery Pack (up to 3 hrs) (I hope that this was not calculated in the same way than a 2.5+ that I know about it)

    • AC Adapter: Input : AC 100-240V 50/60 Hz, Output : DC 16V, 3.13A

    • Dimensions: 231mm * 192mm * 42mm

    Re: I think I've discovered a new UMPC: C1

Could it be vaporware? It's got all the specs that a normal umpc now has, and
I dont see why the big revolution now starts when microsoft announces it, even
though there are already same devices ou there. I doeesn't seem to make much
    sense to me...

    Re: I think I've discovered a new UMPC: C1

So... Correct me if I'm wrong... but if one installed the TouchPac from Microsoft wouldn't this have all the specifications of a UMPC?

Heck its still a bit more expensive (+500 or so) but with a PCMCIA slot, the options seem limitless.

    Re: I think I've discovered a new UMPC: C1

There are certain requirements an OEM has to meet in order to be able to install both the Tablet PC OS and the Touch Pack. And of course Touch Pack is dependent on the Tablet PC OS, so until they at least meet those requirements, Touch Pack won't be an option.

And what are the requirement for Tablet PC OS?

    Re: I think I've discovered a new UMPC: C1

Customer Systems that are licensed for this Product (hereinafter referred to as "Tablet PC") must meet the following hardware requirements:

    1. Tablet PCs must include a pen-based stylus ("Digitizer") and meet the following requirements:
      1. The Digitizer must be integrated with the default display area and must report x and y stylus position coordinates accurately when the stylus tip is within 5 millimeters (mm) of the writing surface anywhere within the active display area. Physical contact must not be required to determine the stylus location.
      2. When the Digitizer is active, it must report position coordinates and stylus tip up and down status at least 100 samples per second. The sample rate may be reduced to conserve power upon inactivity, but it must increase to at least 100 samples per second anytime the pen is in contact with the display surface. We recommend that you use active sample rates of 133 samples per second.
      3. The Digitizer resolution must be at least five times greater than the LCD pixel density, but must not be less than 600 points per inch (ppi). Although lower Digitizer resolutions are permitted, we recommend that you use digitizer resolutions of 1,000 points per inch. For example, LCD pixel density is 123 ppi for a 10.4" XGA (1024 x 768) display panel. Therefore, the minimum Digitizer resolution must be (5 x 123) = 615 ppi.
      4. The cursor position of the Tablet PC must be within 3 mm of the point of contact between the stylus tip of the Digitizer and the display surface everywhere within the active display area. You should design the Digitizer for rapid response and accurate positioning regardless of varying pen tilt-angles.
      5. If this Product is preinstalled on a desktop Customer System (a Customer System without an integrated display), the Customer System must be distributed with a monitor that has an integrated active digitizer that meets the specifications that are described in (a) i-iv above. Desktop Customer Systems that are distributed without a digitizer-equipped monitor are not licensed for this Product.

    2. Removal of the Tablet PC from the docking station without prior notification must not cause any system instability. Any devices that are contained in or attached to the dock must enumerate and function properly when the Tablet PC is reinserted in the docking station.

    3. If a Tablet PC does not have a keyboard, the Tablet PC must have a dedicated mechanism
